This past week we had a historical snowfall of over 6" and five days later we still have some snow on the ground. The snow build up on one of our greenhouses caused it to collapse damaging many plants and the steel framework is a total loss. Climate change is real! In the late 1950's we had snow of about one inch and my brothers and I made three small snowmen about 8" tall with the snow left on the ground when we got out of school. My son and daughter in law made a snowman nearly 6' tall this week. I would have never expected something like this to happen in Florida the same as I never expected to experience a hurricane coming 100 miles inland with sustained winds over 135 MPH. But that is what happened to us a little over five years ago when we had our nursery destroyed by Hurricane Michael. We are tough and we rebuilt after that one and we will do the same again now. Climate change is going to make life as a nurseryman and for farmers more difficult and we will all have to buckle up and adjust to a changing climate. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
